The inhabitants of the house required a remodel that grouped elements, without furnishings in sight and with a lot of storage for the convenience of cleaning, management and utilization of space. To meet this demand, the project tested the proposed store bought home. Wooden box = Store. The house is built around the BOX, which stores the humid elements (kitchen and bathrooms), facilities and personal items (cleaning supplies, luggage, clothing, household items, tableware, music discs, etc). A set of doors allows you to open, close, display, fold and slide compartments – like a Swiss Army knife– to expand the range of BOX. All of these elements provide a generic space in the perimeter which activates the rest of the house. Its versatility allows for greater use of the house. Although the box has a store atmosphere, it reflects a domestic and warm space. This emphasis can create more space for enjoyment in the rest of the house. Because of this, a remodel of the house is very easy, for example, when the second child comes; and again reconfigure when the children study abroad and the grandmother comes to live with the owners.

Los futuros habitantes de la casa requerían una reforma que agrupara elementos, sin muebles a la vista y con mucho almacén para mayor comodidad de limpieza, ordenación y aprovechamiento del espacio. Para cumplir esta demanda, el proyecto ensaya la propuesta de almacén llevado al hogar. Caja de madera = almacén. La vivienda se conforma a través de LA CAJA, que almacena los programas húmedos (cocina y baños), las instalaciones y los objetos personales de sus habitantes (elementos de limpieza, maletas, ropa doméstica y personal, vajillas, discos de música, etc). Un sistema de puertas permite abrir, cerrar, desplegar, abatir y deslizar compartimentos —a modo de navaja suiza— para expandir el radio de acción de LA CAJA. Al estar todos los elementos empaquetados se deja un espacio genérico en su perímetro que activa el resto de la vivienda. Su versatilidad permite el mayor aprovechamiento de la vivienda. Aunque la caja tenga un espíritu de almacén, refleja un espacio totalmente doméstico y cálido. Esta concentración permite crear en el resto de la casa espacios amplios para el disfrute del hogar. Esto facilita que se pueda remodelar la vivienda de forma sencilla, por ejemplo, cuando venga el segundo hijo de los propietarios. Y volver a reconfigurar cuando los hijos se vayan a estudiar fuera y venga la abuela a vivir con ellos.
